Michael WoodsThe summer schedule is solidifying that much more, with word out that Carl Frampton will be doing his thing in NY in July 30.
The 22-0 Irish hitter had his way with Brit rival Scott Quigg in March and will now defend his 122 pound crowns against Leo Santa Cruz, reported his promoter, Barry McGuigan.
The smart boxers' IBF and WBA straps will be up for grabs at Barclays Center. Santa Cruz boasts a 32-0-1 mark and an A grade win over fellow upper echelon pugilist Abner Mares last August. That earned him a WBA featherweight title, which he defended against Kiko Martinez in February. His last three bouts have been at 126, after having fought six straight at 122.
The rumor mill places a Danny Jacobs WBA “silver” title defense versus Irishman Andy Lee underneath that Frampton-LSC tangle in Brooklyn, but that pairing hasn't been confirmed.
