The vacant WBA featherweight world title is on the line on Saturday night, as two southpaw fighters look to get the victory.
It’s not just a title on the line though as both men will be hoping to get the biggest pay day of their careers so far. We’ve got all the info about the Kholmatov vs Ford purse for you.
Whilst many eyes will be on the Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland fight at the weekend, the real action will be taking place elsewhere.
We’ll give you all the info you need on the boxing fighter pay and boxing payouts for the weekend. Although who walks away with the gold is more important.
Kholmatov vs Ford: Here’s What The Main Event Stars Are Expected To Earn
It’s likely that both men involved in this fight will be making their record fees for a fight, having never previously fought for a world title.
Otabek Kholmatov would likely have made a bigger purse for this one had he been fighting former featherweight world champion Leigh Wood. That fight could have even been at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground, which would no doubt have made huge money.
Undefeated southpaw Kholmatov and undefeated southpaw Raymond Ford top the bill in New York, meaning their boxer fighter pay will be pretty decent.
The Kholmatov vs Ford payouts will be higher than both men are used to, with both reportedly having net worths of around $2 million.
It was an interesting purse bid for the Kholmatov vs Ford prize money, with both of the fighter’s representatives wanting to put the fight on.
The man from Uzbekistan is under the Top Rank banner whilst American, Ford, comes under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. Hearn and his company lost out after bidding $255,555 to show the fight, with Top Rank offering $317,500 for the fight.
The boxing payouts for both men could have been much bigger if it weren’t for an unfortunate injury that had nothing to do with either of the boxers involved in the WBA featherweight title bout.
Otabek Kholmatov vs Raymond Ford Fighter Pay
One thing that has driven boxing payouts more than anything in recent times has been the involvement of Saudi Arabia. The Kholmatov vs Ford prize money could have been impacted by it too.
When Top Rank first won the purse bid for this one it was thought that it might take place in Riyadh on February 17th.
That of course was supposed to be the night that Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk for the chance to be crowned unified, undisputed world champion took place. The winner would have been the first recognised undisputed champ at heavyweight since Lennox Lewis at the turn of the century.
It would have meant huge boxer payouts for everyone involved and Kholmatov vs Ford might have been on the bill.
However Fury’s injury, and the decision to move the fight to May, ended any hopes of that being the case on the undercard.
Instead, the two men will face each other for the chance to be a world champion in New York this weekend, and that title belt is the main thing.
