Nicolson vs Mahfoud Purse: One Woman Set for Record Pay

On Saturday night, two women will go head-to-head, with a vacant world title on the line in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be a historic night for one of Skye Nicolson or Sarah Mafoud when it comes to grabbing their first piece of world gold. However, the Nicolson vs Mahfoud payouts could also be record breaking for the pair.

With the vacant WBC world featherweight belt up for grabs, boxer fighter pay isn’t likely to be front and center in the minds of the two competitors. That said both women will still be hoping to make good boxing payouts and will be eyeing some even bigger purses somewhere down the line.

Nicolson vs Mahfoud: Here’s What the WBC World Featherweight Title Contenders Can Expect to Earn

For one of these women, this could have been a much bigger night of boxing fighter pay, but they’ll have to make do.

The Nicolson vs Mahfoud prize money should still make both of these fighters more than they’d usually expect to make. Both are appearing in Las Vegas for the first time, and they’ll have gambled on what they can earn in the future.

This fight was called for a purse bid by the WBC after the title became vacant, with both women at the top of the rankings and waiting to fight the previous champion.

Australian Nicolson earned the interim WBC title by travelling to Mexico to face Sabrina Maribel Perez and defended it against Lucy Wildheart, on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s win over Chantelle Cameron.

It’s her third fight in America but her first in Vegas, and she’s expected to make record fighter pay on the night. Little is known about her net worth or previous boxing payouts.

Danish star Mahfoud is making just her second appearance outside of Denmark, her only previous fight away from home was in Manchester, England.

Her debut in America will make her a good amount of money but, having fought Amanda Serrano for the undisputed world title on the undercard of Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker, it may not be her record payout.

The Nicolson vs Mahfoud payout should still be good for the 34-year-old but, like her opponent on the weekend, it’s actually a fight that she can earn by winning which will likely break her record.

Her net worth is reported to be around $500k, although it’s not been confirmed anywhere so it’s impossible to know for sure.

Skye Nicolson vs Sarah Mahfoud Fighter Pay

Before this fight was made, Nicolson was the interim champion and mandatory challenger for Serrano’s WBC belt.

She was stalking the chance to fight one of the greatest women boxers of all time, in what would likely have been her record fighter pay. The Australian called Serrano out on several occasions but she has not been given her shot.

If she were to beat Mahfoud and win her first ‘real’ world title then a future fight with Serrano might actually be worth more.

Whoever wins on Saturday will be able to go into a unified title fight with a championship belt around their waist and be able to negotiate record payouts.
