Re: Teddy Atlas Calling Fights On ESPN…

Viewers who tuned in to ESPN on Thursday evening, and readied themselves for some boxing put together by Golden Boy Promotions were not met with the sight and sound of analyst Teddy Atlas, as had been custom.

The scraps, topped by a main event, were called by Bernardo Osuna and Joel Diaz, for the record.

I asked around and learned that Teddy fans can rest easier.

No, Atlas wasn’t bounced from his slot of anything a GB person told me.

But yes, he will be working Golden Boy/ESPN cards on a selective basis, I was told.

Still putting that lime in the coconut, then…

Founder/editor Michael Woods got addicted to boxing in 1990, when Buster Douglas shocked the world with his demolition of the then-impregnable Mike Tyson. The Brooklyn-based journalist has covered the sport since for ESPN The Magazine, ESPN.com, Bad Left Hook and RING. His journalism career started with NY Newsday in 1999. Michael Woods is also an accomplished blow by blow and color man, having done work for Top Rank, DiBella Entertainment, EPIX, and for Facebook Fightnight Live, since 2017.
