Promoter Salita Signs BJ Flores, Now At Heavyweight

Promoter Dmitriy Salita has beefed up his stable in the heavyweight class, with word coming that he has signed BJ Flores, coming up from cruiserweight, now rated No. 9 by the WBA.

Salita boasts Jarrell Big Baby Miller under his promotional umbrella, and because of his career longevity, and name recognition, Flores could well secure himself quite meaningful scraps in the very near future.

A fight with a Dillian Whyte or an Adam Kownacki is something we could see occurring.

Flores (34-3-1) debuted as a pro in 2003, and held the NABO, NABA, USBA, and Continental America’s belts at cruiserweight over a seven year span.

He lost a quite controversial decision in 2015 to Beibut Shumenov and outlanded him in power punches and over all punches, as well.

“Finally moving up to heavyweight after years of boiling down to cruiserweight,” the 38 year old Flores said. “I sparred heavys my whole life. Been in camp with Hasim Rahman, John Ruiz, David Haye , Ruslan Chagaev , Vasily Jirov, Chris Byrd. I’m ready for some BIG fights in the last part of my career. A strength and conditioning coach has me at 225 pounds! Shoulda made this move a long time ago!”
