Andy Ruiz Met With the President Today…Er, Not the One You’re Thinking Of, Maybe

So Andy Ruiz shocked the world, outside of him and his crew, when he down Anthony Joshua June 1 at Madison Square Garden.

You well know he struck a blow for underdogs and for husky lads and Snickers addicts.

His victory tour has been stellar, it looks like, outside looking in. Today, Tuesday, he even met the President, got a sit-down and meet ‘n greet with the nation's leader. But, it was the President of Mexico who Andy Ruiz, a California resident born to parents who grew up in Mexico, met with today.

Yep, it wasn't the White House where Ruiz trekked to, to accept congrats from a top tier pol. And, yeah, no one who is a bit aware of our political scene was surprised.

On June 16, 2015 Trump announced his campaign at a speech in NYC which was notable for the wickedly nasty and divisive language directed at Mexico and Mexicans. “When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they’re killing us economically. The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems,” he said, laying out a goodly portion of his strategy in getting elected and appealing to the darker instincts of humans. “Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Some.

Some, he assumes…

Yes, tens of millions of people thought it would be a good idea to elect THAT guy. Hey, at this point it is what it is. But no…on a daily basis, that fact, and his naked lack of fitness for the office,  still shocks and saddens tens of millions of us.

He lies as easily as he breathes, he engages in conduct that if performed by a Democrat, would have resulted in the hardest push for impeachment the nation has ever seen…his administration admits to yanking babies from their moms…..and yet he is still able to enjoy an approval rating that is historically low, yet higher than it has any right to be. There are reasons for this….

So, anyway, when we see Ruiz meeting with the President of Mexico, and not America, we aren't shocked, though perhaps a bit saddened. Regardless, NYFights applauds Ruiz' visit and points to him as a selling point for the sport, and him as a role model for perseverance, and, actually, decency. He's been optimistic, upbeat, classy, happy—he's exhibited a personality and character traits that make him more of a role model than many other people in “higher” stations in life. You all know who I'm talking about…But let me borrow some class from Ruiz, and not go there…and instead finish with a “congratulations” to Andy Ruiz, a hearty “attaboy”…and yeah, a note to maybe one or two of you who perhaps don't see or hear much news from outside a “Fox-y” bubble. You can assume and presume and know this: THEY, the overwhelming majority of them, ARE GOOD PEOPLE.
