Jab Hook's Predictions for StageWorks, Shreveport, Louisiana, January 11th, 2019 (Showtime): “The Battle of the Rubens”, Ruben “RV4” Villa 14(5)-0 vs. Ruben Cervera 10(9)-0, featherweights boxing in an 8 round prizefight.

Ruben Villa was a accomplished amateur boxer who won back to back Nation GoldenGloves Championships, finishing with a 166-17 record. “RV4” has been a professional boxer two and half years on the California club circuit and it's time for him to start making a splash as a pro, too. This match up is supposed to do that for him and advance his career.

Ruben Villa is lookin g to graduate from prospect tp contender with a grand showing on the Jan. 11, 2019 edition of "ShoBox."

Ruben Cervera from Santa Marta, Colombia has been out of the ring nearly a year. This is his 1st bout outside of Colombia, he has only faced very limited opposition back home, and has never boxed past 5 rounds. Cervera clearly has a punch, but this is a big step up and can he land one on Villa?

Jab Hook's keys to victory:

Ruben Villa

  • Use the southpaw advantages, boxing skills and activity to set the pace of the bout.
  • Create pressure, move forward, but always with a tight defense.
  • Work the body, and take your time to analyze and time him.
  • Take it up a gear in the 3rd round, cut off the ring, rip power shots to the liver.
  • Overwhelm him with combinations in the 4th round, outclass him and get a referee stoppage.

Ruben Cervera

  • Whatever you got, put it on the table in the 1st round.
  • Create chaos, create doubt, throw power in every round.
  • Throw the straight right, the overhand right, the kitchen sink.
  • Talk shit, provoke him, and then give him the “Colombian special” on the inside.
  • Have fun, network with people and get some work as an opponent in 2019.

“The Battle of the Rubens” might not last that long, but it could be fun if Cervera follows Jab's keys to victory. Forget your scorecards, and wait for the snack as you watch this undercard appetizer. Jab Hook obviously thinks this one will be short both both Rubens and sweet for one of them.

Hook says, “Villa by TKO in the 4th round over Cervera”.
