Put it on your calendar. Circle it.
Nov. 19.
Kovalev vs Ward…
But do me a favor…
Use pencil.
Because this boxing thing, we can expect the unexpected.
Who knows what happens between now and then, before we get maybe the most anticipated super fight of the year, between the Russian demolition expert, and the Cali based pugilist specialist who has defused every explosion aimed his way, having won every fight he’s taken since he was 13.
Injuries…political upheaval…global warming apocalypse…who knows what could derail this thing.
But Nov. 19 is the D day, according to Kovalev promoter Kathy Duva, of Main Events.
“We have arenas on hold in NY and Vegas, at the moment,” she told me. “AC also wants the fight. We will work in conjunction with Roc Nation to make the best site deal when the time comes.”
Ward is repped by Roc…
The event would run on HBO PPV.
Ward gloves up March 26 and wants another bout after that, before Kovalev.
So maybe you want to circle that date, and then put the pencil down, and cross your fingers. I think the case can be made that the winner of Kovalev v. Ward is the best boxer on the planet. Here’s hoping the planets align correctly and we get it.
