Once Doc Signs Off On Hand, Keith Thurman Will Book Fight

Keith Thurman was in the building, at Barclays Center, on Saturday…but he was looking sharp as all hell, in a suit and tie, and not boxing attire.

The Floridian was there to work TV, with Ray Flores and Chris Mannix, on the Showtime stream, and he was in the press room doing prep.

Thurman was relaxed and congenial, and took queries about how he met his wife. Two years ago, in Tokyo, she was bartending, he said. From Nepalese, he said she's from, and “it was love at first sight.”

He chatted about how much deeper into spiritual matters he's gotten, how he's at least pondering moving from Florida, where he still resides, being that he's been traveling so much, and seeing how different people act in different places.

And most of you will want to know, as I did, when will he fight again? When he's ready, Thurman said. With more than 20 years in the game, I deserve that, he said. And I concurred…

When the doc signs off on his left hand, he stated, that's when we will know when he'll fight.  And in a few days, he will know the answer to that, he said. He's thinking before the end of the year, and yes, he hears ya'll busting his chops on when he's coming back. “But, you think I don't want to be a million dollar per fighter,” he said.

Points being, I'm enjoying living my life…let me enjoy a family life…I've been injured, let me let the docs tell me when I'm good to go….I still want to fight, I'm not a reluctant warrior. I told him yes, he deserves to fight at his pace, and enjoy his other life, and I miss him fighting, because he's a good fighter, and a real good interview subject.
