Barclays Hosting Broner Fight April 21, and Jacobs Fight April 28

Adrien Broner was at the Showtime upfront event Wednesday, and was his typical self. He elicited gales of laughter while chatting with emcee Charlamagne Tha God and various media outlets.

Broner made sure to note that he hasn’t fallen off far from where he was when he was at his best, that he’d going to stay at 140, where he’s comfortable, and that he will be kicking tails this year. He used spicier language than that, though…

Broner (33-3) gloves up April 21, and he will face off with 27-0-1 Omar Figueroa. Where? That wasn’t made clear on Wednesday. I had heard and thought Brooklyn. But Broner, when I asked him, said he wasn’t sure. He would like to fight in Atlanta, he said.

Today, a rock solid source told me that indeed, Broner will glove up at Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, April 21. Interesting venue choice, being that Barclays Center is the site for Danny Jacobs’ next fight, against TBD. Spike O’Sullivan and Andy Lee have been names bandied about, as Jacobs stays sharp while counting down to D Day ie the Gennady Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez sequel. He’s likely to get the winner.
