Will Showtime Show World Boxing Super Series Content?

The World Boxing Super Series is getting solid traction and buzz in fightfan circles, with boxing followers getting their appetites whetted for the forthcoming tournaments involving world class super middleweight and cruiserweight scrappers.

Matchups have been set and fight sites are being cemented and released to the masses. As yet, though, no US TV platform has been announced.

Many folks have assumed that Showtime, with their larger budget as compared to HBO, would be a natural home to WBSS content, which will showcase talent like Oleksandyr Usky. Richard Schaefer, whose done business with Sho in years past, is a massive player in the WBSS format, as well.

“While interesting, we have no plans to pick up any of those events at this time,” said a Showtime spokesman when I inquired about Sho being a platform provider for some WBSS tangos.

So..will Team WBSS find a platform provider outside the band of normalcy? Where will we be able to see Usyk, and Murat Gassiev and others vying for fat bounties and the legacy boost winning the tourney will provide…
