You're in the right spot if you need UFC 294 live updates on the main event. Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski will run it back. The circumstances were not ideal leading into this one, but Volk is as game as they come. Here, we'll cover the UFC 294 round by round updates for this highly-anticipated rematch.
Makhachev is a force to be reckoned with, if you didn't know by now. After the retirement of his teammate, Khabib Nurmagomedov, it was only a matter of time until Islam would fight for gold. Charles Oliveira took the throne post-Khabib, but Islam stopped the Oliveira era. Makhachev is a dominating force, but Volkanovski was able to push him to the test.
This rematch may be more interesting that the original bout given the short-notice nature; Alexander really doesn't have much to lose now.

It's main event time! Volkanovski is getting another crack at champ-champ status, but it's going to be tough. It's a bit early to say that Makhachev is one of the greatest lightweights ever, but we're not going to argue with Nurmagomedov about skill. This fight is, on paper, better than the original slated bout for this UFC 294 main event.
Makhachev vs Oliveira should run it back at some point, but Volk really tested the heart and will of the lightweight champion. The wait is over for round 6 and possibly more, let's jump into it.
Round 1: Islam Makhachev is leaning on that body kick once again; it's where he had most of his success in the striking from their first fight. The lightweight champ shoots for a takedown but it's stuffed. Volk actually has a lot of success in the clinch and is making Islam work. They break and we're back in striking range.
The body kicks are landing again and then Islam goes high. The head kick pushes through the guard and drop Volkanovski. The featherweight champ goes down and the ref steps in. And still!
Official result: Islam Makhachev via first round knockout.
