We are agonizingly close to UFC 300, but before that, there is one more night inside the Octagon. UFC Fight Night 240 is the latest show to come from the UFC Apex, Las Vegas.
There’s a rematch in the main event but in the co-main it’s a fight between two men desperate to get back to winning ways. We’ve got all the news and information in our Hernandez vs Jackson prediction.
UFC Fight Night 240: Hernandez vs Jackson Prediction
It’s a stacked featherweight division and both men involved in this one are currently way off being ranked. They’ll need a win if they’re to get close to the title picture in the future.
Both have had recent set backs with losses and one is hoping to avoid a losing record in UFC. You’ll find out everything in our Alexander Hernandez vs Damon Jackson prediction.
Alexander Hernandez Preview
It’s putting it quite literally to say that Hernandez has had a pretty 50/50 time since joining the UFC in March 2018. He’s had 12 fights since being signed by Dana White and is currently at 6-6 inside the Octagon.
He started with an impressive win over Beneil Dariush, who then went eight fights undefeated, and followed that up with a victory over Olivier Aubin-Mercier. However, that’s the only time during his run in the company that he’s won two in a row.
How will his up and down form play into our Hernandez vs Jackson prediction?
In his last six fights he is 2-4, losing most recently to Bill Algeo, by decision, back in October. His most recent win was against Jim Miller last year.
Overall in MMA, ‘The Great Ape’ has a 14-7 record. Six of his wins have come by knockout, six by decision and two by submission. His defeats have an exact same percentage, with three each by knockout and decision and one by submission.
Damon Jackson Preview
Until last year, it’s fair to say that Jackson’s run in UFC had been far more consistent than his opponent this weekend. From his opening six bouts in the Octagon, since signing for the promotion in 2020, his only loss had been to Ilia Topuria, which is no terrible result.
However, in his past two fights, following a four fight winning streak, Jackson has now lost two on the bounce.
Any Alexander Hernandez vs Damon Jackson prediction has to take into account the fact that Dan Ige and Billy Quarantillo beat ‘Action’ Jackson.
Overall he has a 22-6-1(1) record in MMA, with one draw and one no contest included in his record to date.
Only four of his wins have come by knockout and three by decision, the other 15 have come via submission and that’s his likely route to victory this weekend. He has been knocked out four times, including the loss to Ige.
Alexander Hernandez vs Damon Jackson Prediction: Neither Can Afford to Lose
Our Hernandez vs Jackson prediction is going to be to favor the underdog in this one. Neither man is in good form and so it could go either way.
The oddsmakers thing that Hernandez will go to 7-6 in the UFC, backing him at -198 on the Moneyline, but that’s not we’re backing. Instead, out first prediction is Jackson to win at +164.
Jackson’s most likely route to victory is by submission, as his previous record overwhelmingly suggests. There’s no reason to go against that so Jackson to win by submission at +450 is our second prediction for this one.
Considering his seemingly weaker chin, Jackson’s most likely method of defeat, if you fancy going with the favorite, is via TKO/KO at +120.
‘Action’ tends to get his victories in the second half of fights so we’ll round things off by saying Jackson to win and over 1.5 rounds at +175.
