We continue our analysis of the Magnificent Seven card with another exciting bout. Joe Joyce returns with a mission to revive his career and will face a fellow Englishman – Kash Ali. Here is everything we know about this fight and the Joyce vs Ali purse.
Boxing Fighter Pay: What Will Joyce vs Ali Be Paid in Birmingham?
Joseph Joyce entered 2022 as one of the top British boxers in the world. He was winning every fight and the crowd was enjoying his dominance but the one problem was that he was facing mediocre opposition. He decided to change that and met Joseph Parker.
Only someone who doesn't truly follow boxing would say that Parker is a bad fighter. Let us remind you that he destroyed Deontay Wilder in December and beat the tough Zhilei Zhang last week. If promoters didn't have to solve the Fury-Usyk-Joshua triangle, we would argue that Parker deserves to be the next contender. Nevertheless, Joe Joyce defeated Parker in 2022, winning the WBO interim heavyweight title.
It seemed like the whole universe was working in his favor but that changed when he met Zhang in 2023. They actually fought twice and Joyce was dominated both times. He got knocked out twice, in the 6th and then the 3rd rounds of the matches. At 38 years, this is his last chance to make a statement and revive his career.
Joyce's team picked him the perfect opponent – a man with a solid record but few career achievements. Kash Ali is just about as powerful to be considered a challenge but far from the level that Joyce experienced in the last couple of years. With that said and the fact that their matchup was placed quite low in the undercard of the Magnificent Seven event, how big could the Joyce vs Ali purse be?
Joe definitely made some money in his last few outings but we doubt that his purse is going to be as good this time. Going back to the Parker fight, Joyce got his biggest payday after a base salary of $2.2 million. But that was the first and last time he earned more than a million for a fight.
Joyce was paid a guaranteed purse of $500,000 for his first match against Zhilei Zhang and also got 65% of the PPV cut. Surprisingly, their rematch was even more profitable and once again, Joyce got paid more despite being the challenger. For that fight, he got a base salary of exactly $668,644 and you can actually see a part of the actual invoice to the WBO below.

For comparison, Kash Ali has never earned even close to those numbers for a fight. There is limited data regarding his purses but we know that he was earning less than $50,000 per fight a couple of years ago. With this said, we believe that Joyce remains an attractive fighter for fans and he will get a huge percentage of the Joyce vs Ali purse.
Our prediction is for a 70/30 cut in favor of Joyce but as numbers go, we can't give an educated answer. We expect Joyce to earn at least $250,000 although this fight will be nothing like the last few. As for Ali, he is surely be remunerated well for the beating he is about to experience. Let's assume he will earn at least $100,000 as base salary.
