Even with all the changes to this card, we know that this bout will be a banger. This is the type of fight that takes over the highlight reels. Two incredible heavyweights in search of a fast knockout. Here is our Pavlovich vs Volkov prediction.

Pavlovich vs Volkov Prediction: Who's going to sleep first?

Sergei Pavlovich Preview

Sergei Pavlovich, a 32-year-old fighter from Russia, is known for his power and aggression in the Octagon. His 18-2-0 record speaks for itself, with 15 of his 18 wins coming by knockout. A former Fight Nights Global champion, Pavlovich has quickly made a name for himself in the UFC with a series of six wins via knockout in the first round.

His ability to finish fights in minutes makes him one of the most dangerous heavyweights. Pavlovich excels in the stand-up position, with a 213 cm arm span that allows him to effectively keep his distance if he wants and deliver devastating strikes.

But his style also has some obvious weaknesses. One of the main issues is his cardio. Most of his fights end in the first round and we still don't know how he will perform in longer fights. Additionally, his takedown defense and wrestling skills remain questionable.

His forward style and constant search for a knockout leave him open and we saw how that ended against Tom Aspinall. The now-interim champion knocked him out in the first round after a reckless exchange, which proved Pavlovich's vulnerability to faster and more technical opponents.

In other words, despite his impressive record, you can never know with fighters like Sergei. So the question is always the same – who's going to sleep first? Continue reading below to find out our Pavlovich vs Volkov prediction.

Alexander Volkov Preview

Alexander Volkov, known by his nickname “Drago,” is one of the most experienced fighters in the heavyweight division and the UFC overall. His record of 37-10-0 includes 24 wins by knockout and 4 submissions.

With black and brown belts BJJ, Tsu Shin Gen, and Kyokushin Karate, versatility is his second name. He has excellent striking technique and excellent footwork, which allows him to control the distance and attack effectively from different angles.

Volkov has also shown improvement in his grappling and takedown defense, making him a dangerous opponent both in striking and on the ground. But like any fighter, Volkov also has his vulnerabilities.

For example, he lost some of his most significant fights, which calls into question his ability to handle pressure in key moments despite his apparent experience. He is a Top 5 heavyweight but he never earned a title shot. His last four defeats came against Tom Aspinall, Ciryl Gane, Curtis Blaydes, and Derrick Lewis – each one being a member of the elite.

In the fight against Sergei Pavlovich, he will have to be especially careful to avoid direct hits and not fall into the trap of his opponent’s aggressive style. Volkov has to maintain distance and try to counter his compatriot or even transfer him to the ground. After all, Pavlovich is an amateur in wrestling.

Our Sergei Pavlovich vs Alexander Volkov Prediction: Volkov is great but Pavlovich is a monster

Pavlovich, with his powerful punches and aggressive style, will be looking to finish the fight as quickly as possible. He will try to close the distance and use his strength to deliver the finishing blow.

But it is also crucial that he doesn't overestimate his power and get tired in case Volkov survives the first couple of rounds. In turn, Alexander must use his technique and experience to control the pace of the fight.

Volkov will need to use his mobility and footwork to prevent Pavlovich from getting close and landing that one deadly punch. It is also important that Volkov is prepared to take the fight to the ground, where he will have a clear advantage.

His cardio and experience in long fights could make the difference if the fight goes beyond the second round. In such a case, it will be difficult for Pavlovich to maintain his normal high pace.

Unfortunately, we still believe that Pavlovich has a better chance of winning here. Our Pavlovich vs Volkov prediction is for a knockout. He simply doesn't care about who he fights, he will always rush forward even if it means absorbing punches and kicks. Even if the other fights on the card disappoint, we guarantee this one will be a thrill.
