John Cena has been announced for the upcoming edition of WWE NXT, and it could be related to the John Cena Classic.
The wrestler is also currently scheduled to appear on the upcoming WWE Raw. For now, WWE hasn’t confirmed what Cena will do in Brooklyn on November 2. But The Cenation Leader recently took it to social media to hype up his Raw return and gave a clue about what is going to happen.
Based on his post, it looks like WWE is finally going to work on the build-up for the John Cena Classic. It was first announced back in May during the Backlash event, but after that, it seemed like the company forgot about it.
John Cena Could Announce NXT Wrestlers For The John Cena Classic Next Week
In numerous interviews after this announcement, Cena iterated that they haven’t forgotten about the John Cena Classic and the company has it all figured out. There was only one problem: he couldn’t share further details about it.
Assuming more details regarding the tournament are shared on Monday Night Raw, it gives fans a clue as to what Cena’s appearance on NXT could mean.

When the John Cena Classic was first announced, one of the things Cena mentioned was that the tournament would consist of NXT wrestlers who’ll go up against main roster talent. The eventual winner wouldn’t be decided based on their stats, but rather by fan voting.
During Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Madison Square Garden last year, the wrestler handpicked multiple NXT wrestlers to be a part of the show. There’s a high chance that Cena’s appearance on NXT means he’ll once again handpick wrestlers from the brand to compete against main roster wrestlers.
While Cena and WWE have been quiet regarding the specifics of the tournament, we do know it’s going to take place in December.
