Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell’s custody battle with his ex-wife, Heidi Northcott, took a shocking turn this week.
After Liddell accused Northcott of hiding their daughter, she spoke out with serious allegations of her own against the UFC legend.

“The Iceman” helped bring MMA into the mainstream. He won the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in 2005 by knocking out Randy Couture, then defended the belt four straight times.

Famous for his knockout power and a bitter rivalry with Tito Ortiz, Liddell finished his career with a 21-8 record. He retired in 2010 after a string of knockout losses and became the UFC’s Vice President of Business Development. Today, the Hall of Famer still works in the sport as a coach and ambassador.
Amid that professional life, his personal life is getting rockier by the day. Liddell and Northcott share two children, a 14-year-old daughter named Guinevere and a 13-year-old son named Charlie. He just filed an emergency custody order in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that Northcott took Guinevere from his home and is forcing the two close siblings to live apart.
The filing, obtained by TMZ, claims Northcott took Guinevere from Liddell’s home during his scheduled custodial week on Wednesday with what Liddell called “no intent to return her.” He alleged the move came after Northcott’s bid to relocate Guinevere and Charlie to Newport Beach failed to clear court approval before the school year started.
Northcott, however, rejected the allegations. Her part of the story is very different. She stated that her daughter begged to be taken from Liddell’s home. Addressing her ex-husband’s behavior, Northcott stated, “For the past 5 years after our divorce, Chuck has been obsessed with staying in my life and trying to control me.”

She also added that their children “don’t feel safe speaking up to him at this point.” Expressing her fatigue over the legal battle, she concluded, saying that her “door has always been open for my kids to see Chuck and I never abducted anyone.”
However, Liddell’s complaints didn’t stop with the kidnapping accusation. He claimed Northcott constantly broke their custody rules. According to him, she refused to use their co-parenting app, passed messages through the kids and missed their daughter’s after-school events.
So now, he wants full custody of both children and wants her visits supervised until they go to court. He also worries that keeping the brother and sister apart is hurting them both emotionally.
Background of Chuck Liddell and His Ex-Wife’s Custody Battle
Liddell and Northcott were together for 14 years before finalizing their divorce in April 2025. The legal split took nearly four years to complete after Liddell first filed.
Their relationship had been rocky for a while, including a 2021 domestic battery arrest for Liddell that prosecutors ultimately dropped. Court papers from the divorce also showed that Northcott had concerns about Liddell’s health and behavior after his fighting career ended.

A judge will look at the dispute at a hearing tomorrow, August 24. Until then, the court only has two conflicting stories. The court has not decided which side is telling the truth.
