British cruiserweight prospect Cheavon Clarke believes Diego Pacheco’s Los Angeles fans will embrace him in his first Southern California fight on Saturday, August 31 at the famed Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Los Angeles.

Clarke will face Efetobor Apochi of Nigeria on the undercard for the IBF International and WBA Intercontinental Cruiserweight titles. Remaining tickets are available via AXS.COM.

Clarke (9-0, 7 KOs) fights in America for the first time as a pro against Apochi (12-2 12 KOs). Clarke is briefly putting his quest to win the British cruiserweight title to deal with the dangerous Nigerian first and to introduce himself to American fans.

On the Taylor vs. Catterall 2 rematch undercard on May 25, Clarke stopped countryman Ellis Zorro (17-2, 7 KOs) in eight rounds to win the vacant British Cruiserweight title by knockout. Clarke took his time, looking for openings against Zorro. After a devastating first-round knockout loss to Jai Opetaia last December, Zorro showed caution in the early rounds. As both men warmed up and began exchanging, Zorro held his own by using his height and reach advantage with a smart jab.

But Zorro made a terrible mistake in the eighth round, deciding to exchange with Clarke. Zorro took a good right hook to the head well, then got cocky. He motioned Clarke in with his back to the ropes, and Clarke hit Zorro on the button with the same right hook, dropping Zorro to the canvas at the bell. Zorro was counted out at the end of the eighth round.

Known as “C4,” the heavy hitter wants to deliver a devastating performance and finish his business early. He says he's eager to sit ringside to watch super middleweight contender Pacheco in the main event against Maciej Sulecki of Poland.

“Diego Pacheco is a BAD MAN,” said Clarke. “When I see him fight, he is cold! To be sharing the card with him is great.

“I rate him very highly. He’s special. The way he puts his combinations together is class. He’s a quality operator. I’m excited to watch him in person applying his craft. He’s got a bright future, no doubt. He’s a great boxer. I can see him at the top of the 168-pound division in time for sure.”

Clarke says the same Los Angeles fight fans who love Mexican-style warriors like Pacheco will also like his style.

“If you like Diego Pacheco, you’ll definitely like me. He’s explosive, he maneuvers around the ring well and puts his shots together nicely. We’re similar fighters. Diego’s fans are going to love me.

“We’re in a different weight class, and our stature is different, but as entertainers go, we’re similar. We’ll have you hooked,” promises Clarke, saying fans will get a two-for-one action experience on Saturday.
