Mendoza vs Bohachuk Prediction: Weird Title Picture Hots Up

On Saturday night, at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, there are plenty of world title permutations connected to some massive fights. Some of the misgivings in boxing’s ranking system are certainly on show in the super welterweight division.

We’ll explain the strange situation happening amongst the 154 pounders in our Mendoza vs Bohachuk prediction.

Both men will be desperate to get their hands on interim gold, with the main belt up for grabs in the main event. And the winner will be keen to see who picks up the proper title.

Mendoza vs Bohachuk prediction

With Jermell Charlo having not defended his super welterweight world titles since May 2022, and with no guarantee when he’ll be back in action, the title picture has been very skewed.

Two men with eyes on the prize get together in Vegas and we’ll run through it in our Brian Mendoza vs Serhii Bohachuck prediction.

Brian Mendoza preview

Back in April last year, Mendoza met Sebastian Fundora for the WBC interim world title at 154 lbs. ‘La Bala’ won with a seventh round stoppage.

He then lost to WBO champion Tim Tszyu in the Australian’s own country, and denied him his first undisputed world title.

On Saturday, the 30-year-old has a second chance to win the WBC interim title, whilst in the main event the man he defeated the first time, Fundora, comes up against Tszyu for the vacant WBC title.

Mendoza has 22-3 record in his professional career, picking up 16 of his wins inside the distance, including all three of his most recent wins. He comes into this one on the back of a defeat, although he’s never been stopped and never lost two in-a-row.

Can he earn a second chance at the world title? All will be revealed in our Brian Mendoza vs Serhii Bohachuck prediction.

Serhii Bohachuk preview

Bohachuk has stepped inside the ring 24 times in his professional career, with the intention of boxing for a certain amount of rounds. He hasn’t reached that limit on a single occasion.

The Ukrainian has won 23 of his fights to date and he’s earned a TKO or KO in every single one of them. In his only defeat, El Flaco was stopped in the eighth round.

Quite frankly, it’s a surprise anyone even pays for judges to be ringside for the 28-year-old’s bouts now.

He’s currently above both Mendoza and title contender Fundora in the WBC rankings going into the weekend. A win will earn him a first chance at becoming world champion.

Our Mendoza vs Bohachuck prediction also takes into account the fact the European has a two inch advantage in height and three inch advantage in reach.

Brian Mendoza vs Serhii Bohachuck Prediction: Another Early Finish for El Flaco

It’s fair to say that Bohachuck’s record alone means that our Mendoza vs Bohachuck prediction is unlikely to have anything to do with the 12th round of this one.

In fact we think that the judges will once again be irrelevant for the result of this one with, the fight not to go the distance at -225 our first prediction.

With that in mind, we think that Bohachuck will be the one who gets the finish here, which will be the 24th of his career. Our second prediction is Bohachuck to win by TKO/KO at +130.

The latest round the El Flaco has finished one of his opponents is the sixth round. He likes to get things done in the first half of the fight.

Mendoza has never been stopped so any early finish will be impressive. We think the American will last longer than most of Bohachuck’s opponents so our prediction is the Ukrainian to win in rounds 7-9 at +500.
