Gill vs Barrett Purse: British Fighters Hoping For Record Paydays

On Saturday night in Manchester, England, two British super featherweights face off in a huge main event at the AO Arena. There could be title implications down the road for the winner.

However, it isn’t just the possibility of a world championship belt that will be interesting the two fighters. We’ve got all the news on boxer fighter pay ahead of this one.

The Gill vs Barrett prize money might not be record breaking but they’ll be bigger nights of boxing fighter pay down the line for whichever of these two Brits comes out on top on Saturday.

There are two women’s world title fights in the arena that’s crowned many a champion, but this main event is the most intriguing of the match ups.

Gill vs Barrett Prize Money: Here’s What the Main-event Stars Can Expect To Learn

Last time out, Jordan Gill earned the biggest victory of his career so far. The Englishman travelled to Belfast to take on Michael Conlan, and pretty much ended the Northern Irishman’s chances of being a world champion.

Not many people saw it coming, especially not us with our prediction. Once again, the 29-year-old is heading into an away fight, taking on Zelfa Barrett in his home city of Manchester.

Both men will be hoping to earn their record fighter pay, considering their boxing payouts won’t have been particularly massive previously.

Gill has had 31 professional fights to date and undoubtedly the biggest was that Conlan fight. He has still amassed a net worth believed to be around $1.2 million. He earned around £150,000 for that night in Belfast, according to some.

One report claimed his net worth was $5 million, but that doesn’t appear to make much sense considering his level of fame.

‘Brown Flash’ Barrett is the better-known of the two men in the main event and as such his boxing payouts are thought to have been bigger.

The 30 year olds boxing payouts have reportedly earned him a net worth thought to be around the $1.5 million mark.

How the Gill vs Barrett payouts will work out for this weekend isn’t known yet but with both men on DAZN, with Matchroom Boxing, it wouldn’t have been a tough bout to make.

Both men have huge momentum going into this one and the boxing bonus that they’ll be hoping to earn is a world title fight in the future.

Gill’s shock win over Conlan has put him in the WBA rankings for Lamont Roach’s world title. It’s the first time he’s in the top 15.

Barrett’s win against Costin Ion was his second win in a row and his boxing fighter pay is on the way up. He is now ranked eighth with the same governing body as his opponent this weekend.

The winner would no doubt secure their record prize money in a fight with Roach, or even another all British fight with another world champion, Joe Cordina. Leight Wood could also be a possibility.
