RIP, Danny Phippen (1971-2019)

Boxer Danny Phippen, a Massachusetts native who compiled a pro record of 21-4, has passed away.

On the social media platform Facebook, homages to Phippen, born in 1971, are pouring in. He was Massachusetts based, part of the fighting Phippen family.

Older brother Cliff has owned a boxing gym in the South Shore of the Boston area, and helped corner Peter McNeeley, the Mike Tyson foe, back in the day.

Danny Phippen fought pro from 1994 to 2000. He then re-appeared, and booked some matches in his new digs, Indiana.

He fought Vincenzo Carita, Mitch Williams and JP Augustin, in 2016 and 2017. Danny had been stopped out in his last four matches.

Check out footage from Danny fighting in his second professional outing, against Hector Rodrigues.

We send kind thoughts and best wishes to Danny’s family and friends during this difficult time.
