Fight Nights in the UFC Apex have become a rarity and going back there usually means that you shouldn't expect that much from the card. This also suggests that the UFC on ESPN 61 payouts might be smaller than usual. Let's talk about the potential purses of the best fighters.
UFC Fighter Pay: What Will Tybura vs Spivac Be Paid in Las Vegas?
There is some history between these two as this happens to be a rare rematch in heavyweight. Their first fight took place four years ago, and this one is unlikely to have anything in common with it.
Serghei has become much more technical in boxing and this time, he will be ready for Tybura's sudden takedowns. It is unlikely that Spivac will be able to beat Marcin on the ground, but he is capable of outstriking him and outworking him in the clinch.
A lot has changed since their last meeting but we are here to discuss money, right? Have their salaries moved up or down since their first match?
Tybura and Spivac first met in February 2020, when the Moldovan was starting his UFC career. Back then, Serghei was a nobody, winning pocket money as a salary, and trying to establish himself as an important name.
There is no confirmation about the salaries from their first bout but we can give you some numbers. For instance, Serghei Spivac had just fought Tai Tuivasa in 2019 and we know for certain that he got paid $12,000 for this fight.
This would mean that the highest he could have possibly earned against Spivac was $26,000. But he probably made less than $20k. As for Tybura, he was already established in the division at that stage and probably made closer to $50k.
They meet four years later in the main event, which always guarantees high purses. And based on their most recent salaries, we expect the UFC on ESPN 61 payouts to be rather impressive.
For example, Marcin Tybura faced Tom Aspinall in July 2023. Already back then, we can confirm that his guaranteed salary was $295,000. Since then, he has faced and defeated Tai Tuivasa and has potentially earned around the same salary.
This will be Tybura's third main event in a row and we expect him to earn at least $300,000 against Serghei Spivac. These are heavyweights and they get paid well.
As for the Moldovan, he has been doing good in terms of performances but his purses have not yet reached the same level. From what we hear, he earns between $150,000 and $200,000 per fight.
This will also be his third Fight Night main event appearance in a row and we expect Serghei Spivac to earn $200,000 from the UFC on ESPN 61 payouts.
As for the rest of the card, the purses will remain a mystery until months after the event. This card is not as stacked with well-known fighters, so predicting their salaries is impossible. But this shouldn't stop you from checking out the full card as there are several promising bouts.
