Alexander Volkanovski has cracked the door open on the fighter pay debate with a sharp, calculated bit of satire.
As the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion prepares to defend his throne on Oct. 24 at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, a newly released promotional project shows the king venturing far outside the Octagon.
Underneath the funny trailer and visual gag is a clever punchline aimed right at the promotion’s front office, and fans are praising his sense of humor.
Alexander Volkanovski Takes Shot at Dana White Over Fighter Pay
Sportsbet published the 3:35 clip, titled “Alexander Volkanovski is a Movie Star.” The video features the featherweight champion parodying classic films like The Odyssey and Mission: Impossible. He eventually hires a manager named Beverly, a returning character from his viral Old Man Volk series.
In the clip, she aggressively pushes him toward major Hollywood franchises while steering him away from low-budget independent passion projects. However, the skit delivers its sharpest line right after showcasing a clip from one of Volkanovski’s fictional dramas. While delivering a brutal review of the box office performance, Beverly told Volkanovski, “It was a flop. But it still made more than what Dana pays.”

Volkanovski reacts by grimacing directly at the lens and gesturing for the production crew to immediately cut the cameras. The joke lands just days after White publicly dismissed pay complaints from middleweight contender Sean Strickland, who had recently voiced his frustration over the promotion’s pay scale.
Strickland recently threatened to vacate his title and leave the promotion, stating he is tired of active champions earning what he considers pennies while stars like Conor McGregor make a reported $30 million for a 69-second fight. He even shared an idea of moving up to light heavyweight to quickly finish his contract so he could pursue a lucrative boxing match against Jake Paul.

White dismissed Strickland’s financial complaints during a Dana White’s Contender Series press conference. He argued that the public complaints make no sense because the 35-year-old just signed a brand-new, long-term contract in May. White also told reporters that the fighter pay numbers Strickland is claiming online are completely inaccurate, adding that the promotion has treated him fairly under his fresh promotional deal.
Alexander Volkanovski Showcases a Distinct Brand of Humour
This is not the first time the featherweight king has used comedy to connect with fans. Volkanovski has built a reputation as one of the most self-aware athletes in mixed martial arts, routinely producing viral skits that mock his own life and career. He previously delighted the MMA community by wearing old-age makeup in his popular Old Man Volk series to mock critics who claimed he was past his prime.
The comedy skit arrives at a busy time for the champion. In addition to preparing for his next title defense, Volkanovski is promoting his role in a major Street Fighter reboot premiering worldwide this weekend.
However, his primary focus remains on his return to the Octagon against the undefeated 20-0 Movsar Evloev. The champion expects a tactical main-event battle, but believes his own well-rounded skill set is perfectly built for this style. While he acknowledges Evloev is a bad matchup for the rest of the division, Volkanovski expects his unique tools to hand Evloev the first defeat of his career.
