UFC 332 is just two days away, but the hype around the event doesn’t seem to be there. The Salt Lake City card is headlined by Natalia Silva and Wang Cong, who will fight for the vacant flyweight title after Valentina Shevchenko was forced to vacate the belt due to a shoulder and back injury.

Numbered UFC cards are usually expected to deliver some of the biggest events on the calendar, but that doesn’t seem to be the case this time around. Ever since the card was announced, fans have taken to social media to voice their frustration over the lack of star power and what they see as an underwhelming supporting lineup. Some have even labeled Silva vs. Wang one of the weakest UFC main events in recent memory.

Dana White’s recent mix-up certainly didn’t help either. The UFC CEO appeared to confuse Cong’s resume, attributing wins to her that she has never actually earned in her career. Safe to say, the average MMA fan wasn’t exactly thrilled with the mistake, especially with the October 3 card already struggling to generate excitement.

Dana White Credits Wang Cong With Wins She Never Had Ahead of UFC 332

While speaking to the media ahead of the event, Dana White was asked why Wang Cong was getting the flyweight title shot. The UFC boss tried to justify the booking by highlighting some major wins from the Chinese fighter’s resume, except she never actually fought the names White mentioned.

He said, “Rankings are well. If you look at what she’s done in her body of work. She’s 10-1. I was just saying, she beat Rose Namajunas, she beat [Jessica] Andrade, she beat [Alexa] Grasso. And she beat Valentina Shevchenko in a kickboxing match. As you look through the roster and look at who Shevchenko has beat and cleaned out, she’s the one who should be fighting on Saturday night.”

White was clearly mistaken, as Cong has never faced Rose Namajunas, Jessica Andrade, or Alexa Grasso. All three wins belong to Natalia Silva instead. White did get Cong’s professional record right at 10-1, along with her kickboxing win over Valentina Shevchenko in 2015 at Kunlun Fight 33.

To correct the record, Cong is 5-1 in the UFC and has wins over Tracy Cortez and Ariane de Silva. Some may argue that White’s brain fade came amid the scrutiny he is currently facing over the promotion of Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury.

For those unaware, the Zuffa Boxing boss was absent from the fight’s pre-fight press conference and has reportedly been left out of some of the organizing duties. His public rivalry with Eddie Hearn has also added another layer to the situation, with the English promoter seemingly taking the bout from being organized in the United States to Cardiff.

Still, that doesn’t explain getting the resume of a fighter competing for UFC gold mixed up with another fighter’s accomplishments, especially on the eve of a numbered UFC event.
