Tyson Fury took a brief time-out from training ahead of his mega-bout against Anthony Joshua, which is set to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Dec. 11. “The Gypsy King” is feeling proud about his 13-year-old nephew Shane Fury Jr., who just won a boxing gold medal in Turkey.

The two-time heavyweight world champion could not hold back his excitement on social media as a proud uncle, watching Shane Jr. perfectly follow in his footsteps.

England sent 14 boxers to the European Under-15 Championships in Trabzon, Türkiye, from October 17 to 27. Shane Jr., the son of Tyson Fury’s younger brother Shane, was one of them and competed in the under-70kg division in his first international tournament.

He won three close matches to win the gold medal. He beat Ukrainian southpaw Bohdan Moroz 3-2 in the quarterfinals, defeated Moldova’s Dan Florea 5-0 in the semifinals and won a 3-2 split decision against Azerbaijan’s Sarkhan Hakhverdiyev in the final.

Tyson posted a couple of Instagram stories after his nephew’s final win. In one video, he celebrated the victory, shouting, “Get up there, my Shane! He’s done it, the European champion. Get up!!! On his first international tournament, in the toughest tournament in the world, he brings back the gold medal. Get up, what a boy. What a boy!”

Then he praised his nephew’s work ethic and credited his faith for the tournament run, saying, “You know, I prayed to God every time for the victory for Shane, and he delivered every single time. So thank you to God and thank you to Jesus for giving Shane the victories. Unbelievable. What a boy. He deserves it.”

He noted that his nephew puts his life and soul into boxing, describing him as a lovely kid and the only person he knows who focuses entirely on training without caring about anything else.

Looking ahead, the heavyweight star warned the boxing world to watch out for the teenager’s rise over the coming years. “Wait ’til you get to see Shane Fury. Wait ’til you get to be introduced to the real Shane Fury over the [next few] years. Come on. Next gen, let’s go, baby,” Tyson concluded.

Shane Jr.’s gold medal continues a dominant year for the family’s next generation. Earlier this year, he secured his second consecutive Northwest regional title alongside his younger brother, Johnboy Fury, who also won a regional championship.

Just to recap, Tyson’s son Prince Fury and their cousin James Dean Fury are also boxing in the amateur ranks.
