This bout just became a lot more important as it is now the headliner of the whole event. Unfortunately, the massive title bout is off but this fight was already worthy of a main event. Here is our Muratalla vs Farmer prediction.
Murattalla vs Farmer Prediction: H2H Analysis, How It Became the Main Event
This card was originally to be headlined by Janibek Alimkhanuly and Andrei Mikhailovich. But a last-minute hospitalization led to a cancellation. As reported by Top Rank Boxing, the champ apparently fainted during his final weight cut and was hospitalized. Medical tests revealed that he was dehydrated and doctors insisted that he wouldn’t be able to fight.
And just like that, Raymond Muratalla and Tevin Farmer were promoted to headliners of the upcoming card. What a brilliant opportunity for both of them. We already discussed their potential purses ahead of this fight but we believe that they should get paid more now. Anyhow, let’s take a closer look at their matchup.
Raymond Muratalla Preview
Raymond ‘Danger’ Muratalla enters this contest as the undefeated favorite but there is a lot to consider before putting your money on his moneyline.
The young American built his career in the smartest way possible, not rushing through the rankings. He fought a bunch of nobodies, then gradually increased the level and is now fighting for the right to fight for a world title. With a 20-0 record and 16 knockouts, it is time for him to prove his worth against one of the most experienced boxers.
Muratalla last fought in March and his performance wasn’t even remotely impressive. He even came out to say that it was a terrible display from him but also that he went through serious stomach problems during fight week. He will be extra motivated to bounce back with a confident win over a former world champion.
But before we give our final Muratalla vs Farmer prediction, let’s take a closer look at the other challenger.
Tevin Farmer Preview
Tevin Farmer is en-route to revive his career but to do that, he has to defeat one of the most promising young boxers.
Farmer had an interesting start to his career. In his own words, he did not take boxing seriously and this is why he lost four times in his first eight fights. Once he changed his attitude, he went on to win the next 18 fights until he earned a shot at the IBF Super Featherweight title. He won it on the second attempt and defended it four times.
Things went south in 2020 when Farmer faced Joseph Diaz for his fifth defense. Tevin would have probably won that fight if he hadn’t broken his hand as soon as the opening round. He somehow survived all 12 rounds but lost via UD.
This is when he took a break from boxing and returned three and a half years later in June 2023. Since then, he won three times and deservedly earned this huge fight.
Our Raymond Muratalla vs Tevin Farmer Prediction: Too Late for Farmer
Older boxing fans would probably prefer for Farmer to win on Saturday. But we have to side with ‘Danger’ for our Muratalla vs Farmer prediction.
Raymond has already called out two of the current lightweight champions and he will be in the conversation if he gets a statement win over Farmer. However, we doubt that Muratalla will get a knockout tomorrow. The former champ hasn’t been knocked out in 12 years and that experience will play its part.
The safest option is to bet on Muratalla to win via decision.
