This rematch was supposed to happen six months ago. There is bad blood after their first exhibition fight ended prematurely and turned into a huge brawl between members of the two teams. As much as it is an exhibition, it definitely doesn’t feel like it. Here is our Mayweather Jr vs Gotti III prediction.
Mayweather Jr vs Gotti III Prediction: What Happened In the First Fight?
Floyd Mayweather faced the far less experienced John Gotti III in an exhibition fight in early June 2023. Unfortunately, the 8-round contest never heard the final bell as the fight ended in an unpleasant incident. The tensions were rather high for a show and the fighters were exchanging profanities throughout the early rounds.
It all escalated in the sixth round, when the referee decided to stop the contest as it was getting out of control. Little did he know that it was about to get a lot worse. As soon as the referee intervened, Gotti suddenly attacked Mayweather. Members from the teams of both boxers quickly rushed to the ring and the situation got worse as everyone was trying to fight each other.

This incident had serious consequences but also gave them a reason to run it back and make more money. John Gotti III received a 6-month suspension from boxing while Mayweather somehow managed to avoid any sanctions. The rematch was originally planned for Las Vegas during Super Bowl Weekend in February 2024 but there were legal problems that forced them to postpone the event.
But due to the fact that such incidents almost never happen in professional boxing, the second fight will draw a lot more attention even though it is merely an exhibition event.
Our Floyd Mayweather Jr vs John Gotti III Prediction: Head-to-Head Analysis
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has an undefeated record of 50-0 and a career that spans several decades. He is known for his unbreakable defence and technical style, and for winning world titles in five weight classes. Despite the official end of his professional career 2017, after the fight with Conor McGregor, he continues to hold exhibition fights that attract huge attention regardless of whom he faces.
John Gotti III, the grandson of the famous mafia boss John Gotti, is an up-and-coming mixed martial artist who decided to try his hand at boxing. Despite his young age, Gotti already has several important victories in MMA and the attention he attracted with these fights with Mayweather guarantees that we will someday see him in a major promotion.
Both Mayweather Jr and Gotti III appear to be actively preparing for this fight, which promises to be a lot more tense than the first match. Both boxers put a lot of effort into training to be in top shape. Despite his age, Mayweather continues to display serious skills in the ring and his defence is as impressive as it was a decade ago. His physical shape is incredible and his discipline in the ring is unparalleled.
Gotti is young and ambitious, especially being under the scrutiny of the media and boxing community due to the fame of his family. He takes his training very seriously and has been seen sparring with some of the best in the world. He understands that even an exhibition fight against one of the greatest boxers in history is a challenge, and his skills and power shouldn’t be underestimated.
Of course, knocking out Floyd Mayweather Jr. is out of the question. Much better boxers tried and failed. But Gotti has the skills to make this a competitive contest for the fans. He will try to showcase his best talents and attract positive attention to his name. Nevertheless, we have to pick the ‘Pretty Boy’ for our Mayweather Jr vs Gotti III prediction.
