Yahu Blackwell, Advised By Joe Cortez,  Returns On Austin Trout Card Next Month

Joe Cortez advised Yahu Blackwell returns on the undercard of Austin Trout next month

Yahu ‘Rock' Blackwell is all set for a busy end to 2019, as the highly talked about cruiserweight who has spent time in the Mayweather gym is set to appear on the undercard of former WBA World Super Welterweight Champion Austin Trout on October 25.

Blackwell is undefeated in the professional ranks in the 200-pound division and Blackwell, who owns an ice cream franchise in his native Baltimore, opened up about his plans for the latter end of the year.

Blackwell said, “I'm excited to get back in the ring and I've been doing a lot of work between Baltimore, Los Angeles and Las Vegas with some great trainers to help me continue to improve on my craft. I've worked with the likes of Floyd Mayweather Sr and that has been an amazing experience and I have learnt so much from the likes of Floyd Sr.

“I am also very lucky to be managed by legendary Joe Cortez and he has already got me a great opportunity on the undercard of Austin Trout who is a fantastic fighter, so I am really looking forward to putting on a show and showing my levels and improvements on a big show.”

Blackwell has revealed that he will box twice before the year is out, and the Maryland cruiserweight gave an overview of his plans going forward.

He said, “I have an amazing team around me led by Joe Cortez….

..so our plans are to continue to work hard in the gym and put our feet down and progress up the rankings in a quick and explosive fashion.

“I'd like to be challenging for titles before the end of next year definitely. I feel I can go all the way in the professional ranks and I am setting out to prove that I have got what it takes starting on the undercard of former world champion Austin Trout.”
