Golovkin Fight Does Bangup Number on HBO

The “old” Golovkin is back, y’all…

Gennady Golovkin’s demo job on Vanes Martirosyan Saturday night at Stub Hub, and on HBO, resonated with viewers.

The main event  featuring “GGG” Golovkin vs. Vanes, subbing in for Canelo, registered 1,249,000 viewers for the second round KO.

The fight peaked at 1,361,000 viewers, according to the counting experts at Nielsen. This fight is the most watched on cable this year, for the record.

The opening bout – HBO’s first-ever telecast of a women’s fight live on the service – averaged an also commendable 904,000 viewers.  The Braekhus win over Kali Reis peaked at 1,024,000 viewers.
