Crazy Angel Goes On Loco Rant; Garcia-Thurman Presser Gets Spicy

His history indicates his ability to stir the pot to such an extent that he can steal the show, and he did it yet again, even though he’s JUST a trainer.

“Crazy”‘ Angel Garcia, dad to Danny, went off leash Wednesday at a press conference to hype the March 4 welterweight showdown between son Danny, who holds the WBC strap and WBA 147 champ Keith Thurman. Promoter Lou Dibella and all on the dais and all on the dais looked on in horror.

He had something to offer to potentially offend everyone; there was some N word action, he used the f—–t to slam the pony-tail wearing Floridian, who he also termed a “hippy.” Angel finally calmed down and later admitted he does this for show, because boxing is too staid and doesn’t feature enough such hubbub.

Thurman (below), he told the media that Angel didn’t get under his skin and he chose not to fire back too hard. Why? Because, he said he’s more mature now and besides, the loudest talking is best done in the ring.

Folks are expecting a Barclays Center at capacity and a high number on CBS.

Later, Angel told me he’d maybe line to hit Trump Tower, to pay respect to the President elect.  Uh oh…Trump might find himself a new cabinet member!

After establishing himself as the top fighter at 140-pounds, Garcia moved up to 147-pounds and defeated former champion Paulie Malignaggi before he earned a vacant world title in January 2016 when he bested another former champion in Robert Guerrero. The Philadelphia-native comes off of a victory in his hometown and will return to headline at Barclays Center for the sixth time. Garcia has compiled one of the best resumes currently in boxing with victories over the likes of Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, Lamont Peterson, Zab Judah, Mauricio Herrera and Erik Morales.

The hard-hitting Florida-native Thurman comes off of a successful world title defense in a “Fight of the Year” candidate with former champion Shawn Porter that rocked Barclays Center and was the first primetime boxing event on CBS in nearly 40 years. Prior to that, he dominated former champions Robert Guerrero and Luis Collazo on his way to two victories in 2015. The 28-year-old won his belt by knocking out Diego Chaves in 2013 and scored consecutive knockouts over Jesus Soto Karass and Julio Diaz in his first and second title defenses.
