UFC Paris saw Salahdine Parnasse make a spectacular Octagon debut in front of his home crowd, starching Dan Hooker in the opening round and immediately announcing himself as a serious lightweight contender.
The Frenchman landed a perfectly placed body kick that smashed into Hooker’s liver and visibly hurt the veteran. “The Hangman” grimaced in pain but tried to cover up and fight through the damage.
Parnasse, however, immediately pounced on the opening. He rushed forward with a head kick before following up with a blistering combination of punches that sent Hooker crashing to the canvas. The referee called off the fight at 2:35 of the opening round.

Given the opportunity to headline a UFC card in his Octagon debut, Parnasse certainly made the most of it. The Frenchman improved his record to 24-2 and wasted no time calling for his next opponent, naming Max Holloway as his dream fight. And it seems Dana White was impressed with what he saw.
During a press conference following DWCS 91, White was full of praise for Parnasse and revealed that his debut was the third-biggest debut in UFC history in terms of social media numbers.
He revealed, “Incredible. And he was the third biggest debut on social media that we’ve ever had.”

The UFC CEO revealed that only Paddy Pimblett and Raul Rosas Jr. made bigger splashes on social media than Parnasse. Pimblett had already built a strong following during his Cage Warriors run, with his haircut and magnetic personality adding to his popularity. He signed with the UFC in 2021 and made his promotional debut at UFC Vegas 36 on September 4, winning via first-round TKO against Luigi Vendramini.
Meanwhile, Raul Rosas Jr. became a star on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022, famously earning a UFC contract as a teenager. His Octagon debut came two months later as a featured prelim at UFC 282, where he beat Jay Perrin with a first-round submission. The Mexican has since become a fan favorite thanks to his “Chiwiwi” tagline.
White was also impressed by Parnasse’s ambitious callout of Max Holloway following his win. Asked about the possibility of the matchup happening in the future, he said, “The crowd was incredible, the fight was great, and calling out Max Holloway is pretty crazy. Anything is interesting. The fact that that guy wants to fight Max Holloway now is… impressive. I like it.”
For the unversed, Parnasse has debuted at No. 9 in the lightweight rankings, while Holloway currently sits at No. 5. With the 155-pound division expected to get even more stacked in the coming months, it will be interesting to see what Parnasse does next.
