Salita Reports on SHOBOX

Promoter Dmitriy Salita did his first SHOBOX last Friday so I asked the Brooklyner to give me his thoughts on the show, which unfolded at Turning Stone in Verona, NY.

“They were very competitive fights between undefeated contenders that wanted to get to another level. Competitive fights between young fighters should be applauded at this stage in their career. I was very happy to be involved in promoting a ShoBox show and this show was what it’s about. Talented, hungry fighters looking to become world champions. Mason Menard is a new face that made a big statement and I am very glad that his opponent Eudy Bernardo is healthy and physically ok after that huge shot that he absorbed. I thought the main event was very competitive between two undefeated young hungry lions. I thought that Nikolay Potapov’s activity, landed punches and ring generalship got him the win by 2, 3 rounds but some people favored Young’s power shots and that’s why they had a draw. Both these guys feel they won and want a rematch. Over all a great evening of boxing and I am happy the fans enjoyed it on Showtime!”

And next for Team Salita? “May 24! Detroit Brawl,” the promoter told me. “Steve Martinez, Emilio Salas, James Gordon Smith, James Ballard, Giorgi Gelashvili and Serdar Hadurbadyev on the show.”
