This Pro Boxer Likes Smith To Upset Hopkins

Friend of NYF Shawn Cameron is a strong predictor and has a keen eye which helps him analyze how a bout will unfold.

I asked the 10-2  154 pound pro how he foresees tonight’s Bernard Hopkins grand (?) finale versus Joe Smith Jr in Los Angeles and on HBO.

Cameron took a break from sparring ex champ Yuri Foreman–they both ply their trade at the famed and fabled Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn–and said he sees Hopkins-Smith as a 50-50 fight.

“It’s a 50/50 fight but I’m picking Joe,” said Cameron, a Brooklyn native and Army veteran. “Joe was chosen for a reason, just like he was there to play a role in the Fonfara fight. But I just think that Bernard is starting to look old, his movement. His body looks frail. He still has the mind and experience. But I think that Joe Smith with the right game plan should hurt and discourage him. Bernard still has the mental tactics but the physical, not so much. He looks off (in video of him training). Hey, I could be wrong. But nah, I don’t think I am.”
