Vasyl Lomachenko’s rep is sky-high right now, with the Ukrainian drawing across the board props for downing ace technician Guillermo Rigondeaux.
Who can beat Hi Tech, we wonder, because he’s not losing rounds, let alone bouts?
How about Manny Pacquiao?
Sure, he’s not at his physical prime, and Jeff Horn edged him a notch closer to retirement when they gloved up this summer.
We’ve heard the chatter, that Manny might like to see how much is left in his tank, if he could still teach a whippersnapper a thing or three. Is this something Team Pacquiao would consider, I inquired to Senator Pacquiao’s boxing advisor, Michael Koncz?
“Yes I think Lomachenko would be an intriguing fight,” Koncz told me.
We talked about good and less good potential matches for Manny. Then, “If we ever do the fight we would want 140,” Koncz said.
That was Wednesday morning. Come Wednesday afternoon, I asked the same of Freddie Roach, in NY to corner Iago Kiladze Saturday versus Adam Kownacki.
Freddie, you like Loma vs Manny? Yes, Coach Roach told me at Gleason’s, before Iago worked out a bit, he would like a Loma fight.
As much as he doesn’t think Bud Crawford is a good style match for Pac-Man, Dedham Freddie believes his guy is well suited to pull a Salido, and hand Loma an L.
