Joshua Had Surgery In Lead-Up To Ruiz Rematch

So, now we know. Well, we know a bit more.

Anthony Joshua admitted that before the June 1 fight versus Andy Ruiz he was dealing with health and medical issues.

Extreme fatigue was messing with him, and “I felt lethargic,” he declared.  He said,  “I thought I was tired because of training,” and this had gone on for a long spell. He dunked his head in ice before the Madison Square Garden fight, to wake up, he shared.

He had an operation during camp for this fight, he told the interviewers on 5 Live With Costello and Bunce. No, he didn’t say what operation, or specifically what the condition was/is. “Not getting into it,” Joshua said, when pressed for specifics.

AJ spoke to those who thought this Dec. 7 fight was boring. He said he fought the smart manner, he wanted to walk out with the win. Winning, bottom line winning, was more important than engaging in a trade-fest.

Also, he said his next fight will likely occur in England.
