Filip Hrgovic, a 6-6 smasher from Croatia, rose to 9-0 (7 KOs), by taking out Mexican Mario Heredia in Mexico on Saturday night.
The heavyweight, trained by Pedro Diaz, took on a guy who was coming off a win, over Samuel Peter, in May.
The winning streak stopped for Heredia, who looked OK as Hrgovic looked a bit upright and stiff to start. But right hands by Hrgovic in the second started buzzing the loser.
Heredia ate a sharp right-left hook follow and he went down. He beat the cout, but the ref halted it–timing was 43 seconds in the third round, said David Diamante.
The 27 year old winner fought in Hermosillo, on the undercard of the mainer pitting 39-3 Mexican JF Estrada, putting his super fly crown up for grabs for Dewayne Beamon.
The WBC international title is around the waist of the guy who used to spar Wladimir Klitschko.
