Serrano Leaves a Significant Legacy

Serrano, who is one of the most accomplished and influential athletes in boxing history and recently named to TIME Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential Athletes, will celebrate her career with her final fight in front of her Puerto Rican fans.
In her final fight, Serrano will seek to break the all-time women’s knockout record. She is currently tied with Hall of Fame boxer Christy Martin at 32 total knockouts.
“Boxing has been my life, and I never could have imagined the journey it would take me and my family on,” said Serrano as part of Wednesday’s announcement, recalling her early days when women’s boxing was still fighting for any recognition in small theatres to headlining Madison Square Garden in New York in front of a sold-out arena.
“Jordan (Maldonado, her trainer) and I always believed, and I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished,” said Serrano, but made it clear it didn’t happen without support.
“Nakisa, Jake and MVP believed in me and in women’s boxing, and together we’ve helped change what’s possible for women in this sport. We’ve fought for respect, equal opportunities, fair pay, and the choice to compete under the same rules as men. There’s still more work to do, and I’ll continue fighting for the next generation long after I hang up my gloves.”
In her last fight as the main event of MVPW-03 in May 2026, Serrano tied the all-time women’s boxing record previously held by Christy Martin with her 32nd professional knockout against top contender Cheyenne Hanson.
With two records left to break as her goal before retiring, Serrano headlined the first-ever championship boxing event on TikTok LIVE and the first-ever unified women’s world championship contested over 12 two-minute rounds in August 2026 in Temecula, California.
While Serrano won a narrower decision than expected against top contender Lucrecia Manzur of Argentina to win her 50th fight, the knockout remained elusive. Three-minute rounds instead of two-minute rounds will give Serrano a much better shot at breaking one more record before her career ends on January 9.
Skye Falzon: ‘Opportunity of a Lifetime’

Skye Falzon is the number four WBA world-ranked contender who has captured the NSW, WBC Asian, WBA Asian and WBA Oceania professional titles. In her amateur career, she won two NSW State Championships, earned a silver medal at the Australian Championships and claimed gold at the PNG Cup. Falzon is the founder of The Ditch Gym & Recovery Centre in Batemans Bay, Australia, which is home to her boxing club, Dark South Academy.
Serrano’s opponent steps into the ring on January 9 knowing she is the target for a possible knockout world record. But without Falzon or someone like her, there is no retirement fight.
“After 14 years as a professional boxer, I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to step into the ring with the best female boxer in the world,” said Falzon.
“This is more than just a fight; it represents years of sacrifice, dedication, setbacks and an unwavering belief in myself. Opportunities like this are what fighters dream of, and I have worked my entire career for this moment.
“I have nothing but respect for Amanda Serrano. She is a pioneer, but I am not stepping into that ring just to share it with greatness. I am stepping in to prove that I belong there and to give everything I have to create my own piece of boxing history,” declared Falzon.
Amanda Serrano Chasing One Last Record

Serrano’s career has taken her to the world’s biggest stages, from Madison Square Garden to record-breaking global events on DAZN and Netflix. Now the Carolina, Puerto Rico and Brooklyn, New York native will return to Puerto Rico for one final fight in front of her home fans, bringing her legendary career full circle at the iconic Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
Serrano is a Puerto Rican sports icon beyond boxing. Her impact has extended far beyond the ring.

Like Katie Taylor, One Last Walk at Home for Amanda Serrano

Serrano and Taylor closed the trilogy as they headlined an all-women’s card at Madison Square Garden in 2025. Taylor of Ireland, Serrano’s greatest rival, staged her own homecoming and retirement fight on September 5 in front of 83,000 fans in her home stadium of Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, covered ringside for NY Fights.
Attending all three Taylor vs Serrano fights, and Taylor’s final fight in Dublin earlier this year, has been the experience of a lifetime. for this reporter. Their place in boxing and in women’s sports cannot be overstated.
A leading advocate for choice and equality in women’s boxing, Serrano made history in 2023 by competing in the first women’s unified world championship bout over 12 three-minute rounds, later voluntarily vacating her WBC title rather than abandon her commitment to competing under equal rules to male champions.
“To close my career at home in Puerto Rico, in front of the people who have supported me from the beginning, means everything. On Saturday, January 9, I’m going to give the fans one final night to remember. This is The Last Walk of my boxing career, and I hope everyone who has been part of this journey, from Puerto Rico and New York to fans watching around the world on DAZN, will be there to share it with me.”
