Zhang vs Yan Prediction: China vs China Chaos

While this women’s strawweight title fight isn’t stealing too many headlines in the lead up to UFC 300, our Zhang vs Yan prediction is that this war between two Chinese fighters will steal the show on Saturday.

A two-time UFC champion is back at the top of her respective weight class, and has looked unbeatable in her recent fights. But does her country mate have what it takes to dethrone her? Considering the clash in styles, there’s a chance for a massive upset.

Although our Weili Zhang vs Xiaonan Yan prediction will make it clear what to expect when these two females enter the octagon.

UFC 300: Zhang vs Yan Prediction

Weili Zhang Preview

Weili Zhang — a Chinese fighter with a 24-3 professional record, which includes 11 KO and 8 submission victories — is the queen of the UFC 115-pound division.

As it currently stands, there doesn’t seem to be any female at that weight in the world who can compete with her.

The reason that Zhang Weili is such a heavy favorite for this UFC 300 fight is that she is an incredibly well-rounded fighter.

She has no problem winning exchanges on the feet, and is also more than content to take the fight to the ground and drag her opponent into deep waters if need be.

Given the strengths of Xiaonan Yan, however, our Zhang vs Yan prediction is that Weili Zhang will want to keep this fight on the feet. She has a clear striking advantage, and would be wise to utilize that at UFC 300.

If this fight remains standing, we expect to hear “And Still!” on Saturday.

Xiaonan Yan Preview

Xiaonan Yan — a Chinese fighter with a 17-3 professional record, which includes 7 KO wins and 1 submission victory — has long been considered a future title contender in the UFC’s women’s strawweight division.

Now she has her chance at glory — but she’ll need to beat a fellow Chinese fighter in order to claim it.

Although Yan has way more KO victories compared to submission wins in her professional career, don’t let that trick you into thinking that Yan is a striker.

The reason for all those KO’s is due to her ground and pound prowess. When she inevitably takes her opponents down, Yan prefers to bloody them up with her fists and elbows rather than hunt for submissions.

Our Weili Zhang vs Xiaonan Yan prediction for this UFC 300 card is that Yan will be trying to take Zhang down all fight. If she can successfully do so, we might have a new 115-pound champion on Sunday.

Weili Zhang vs Xiaonan Yan: An Exciting Decision

Our official Zhang vs Yan prediction is that Weili Zhang wins by decision — currently available at +175.

We think Zhang is the superior fighter, and will secure a victory, Yet, because we respect Yan’s skillset, we don’t think Zhang will get a finish.

We would also recommend taking a good at the Over 4.5 rounds, which you can get for -105

This is sure to be among the best fights on a stacked UFC 300 card. We can’t wait for Saturday!
