Talking Spence v. Algieri, Wilder v. Povetkin

By Michael Woods

Word on the street is NYC area fight fans are getting some solid pairings to size up soon.

I heard that Errol Spence could be headlining April 16 at Barclays Center, against Long Island based pugilist Chris Algieri. Solid welter tangle, a definite step up for Spence.

And tough as nails fan friendly Pole Krystof Glowacki, a cruiser ace, could tangle with Steve Cunningham underneath.

Promoter Lou Dibella would neither confirm nor deny these proposed pairings when I grilled him at his Wednesday show at BB Kings in Manhattan.

He did dish that talks for a May at Barclays scrap between Deontay Wilder versus Alexander Povetkin, with all pertinent parties, are progressing.

“We will have another round of talks tomorrow (Thursday),” he said.
