The weekend’s best boxing event takes place in Puerto Rico — with the A-side to this Serrano vs Meinke prediction receiving a long-awaited homecoming.
Considering that the IBF, WBO, and WBA world female featherweight belts are on the line this weekend, we fully expect that these two top-tier females are going to put on the best performances of their respective careers thus far on Saturday.
While the oddsmakers might have made you believe that this will be a relatively one-sided fight, our Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke could perhaps convince you that this 12-round fight is going to be much closer than the gigantic odds discrepancy would suggest. Perhaps not. Either way, we’re in for some excitement on Saturday.
Serrano vs Meinke Prediction
Amanda Serrano Preview
Nobody can deny that Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano — a Puerto Rican boxer with a 46-2-1 record, which includes 30 KO victories — is firmly entrenched in the upper echelon of female boxers.
Considering that Serrano’s only loss in the last 12 years came against the legendary Katie Taylor — in what might be the best female boxing fight in history — and was one judges’ scorecard away from winning that iconic bout, Serrano has proven that she isn’t afraid to compete against the very best.
This is also proven by the string of four decision victories since that loss against Taylor; the most recent of which was a dominant win over Danila Ramos.
While Serrano’s performance against Ramos in that fight was certainly impressive, perhaps the most fascinating aspect of that fight was that the fight included three minute long rounds, rather than the typical two minute rounds that all other female boxing fights have had to this point.
Serrano making history in that way is a perfect example of what makes her such a fun fighter to watch: She dares to be great.
Although we can talk about Serrano’s exquisite character all day, that isn’t going to win her the fight against Nina Meinke on Saturday. What will help her win, however, is her superior boxing ability compared to Meinke.
The way that Amanda Serrano utilizes footwork and mixes up combinations in order to keep her opponents confused and on the back foot makes her nearly impossible to connect with cleanly.
Considering that Serrano will almost certainly be the faster and more powerful fighter on Saturday, our Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke prediction is that Serrano will be bobbing and weaving in and out of range throughout the fight, making it tough for Meinke to get her reads.
This alone could be enough to send Serrano’s hometown fans home happy.
Nina Meinke Preview
Nina “The Brave” Meinke — a German boxer with an 18-3 professional record, which includes four KO victories — is earning the biggest payday of her life against Amanda Serrano this weekend.
Yet, Meinke isn’t showing up to Puerto Rico just to cash in on a nice payday — she’s coming to take Serrano’s IBF, WBO, and WBA world female featherweight belts.
And one look at Meinke’s boxing ability shows that she’s more than capable of producing a massive upset on Saturday.
One positive component that Meinke will bring into the ring Saturday night is the fact that she’s a southpaw fighter. This alone will present some unique challenges for Serrano, that the champion isn’t used to.
Then again, Serrano has surely been sparring against southpaw’s leading up to this all-important title fight.
Yet, while Meinke isn’t the most powerful featherweight fighter by any means, her defensive ability is largely unmatched within the weight class.
Our Serrano vs Meinke prediction is that Meinke should be able to avoid Serrano’s power early in on the fight, while she’s still fresh.
Although it might become more difficult for Meinke to avoid Serrano’s devastating right hand later on in the fight, once she gets more tired, perhaps Meinke will have won enough rounds by that point for it not to matter.
Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke: Showcase For Serrano
Our official Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke prediction is that Serrano will win this fight by decision.
There’s no question that Serrano is the more talented boxer, compared to Meinke. And considering that Serrano will be fighting in Puerto Rico for the first time since becoming a world boxing champion, we know Serrano is locked in and ready to defend her belts. For that reason, we think Serrano to win by decision — currently available at +130 — is a solid bet.
If Serrano does manage to produce a knockout — which is definitely possible — we think it will happen in the later rounds. Therefore, we could suggest taking a look at the Fight to go Over 9.5 rounds (currently available at -125) as well.
While Jake Paul might be the main attraction for the global audience, the Puerto Rican crowd is showing up to support Amanda Serrano this weekend. We don’t expect her to let them down.
