Polish Prince Kielczewski Headlines PBC on ESPN

Welcome back, Friday Night Fights!

ESPN has boxing back in a familiar slot Friday evening, with Tess and Teddy doing their thing, happily for fans of continuity and now nostalgia.

The main event has some decent stakes attached to it. Ryan Kielczewski, the so called Polish Prince, brings his 25-1 mark to the ring in Verona, NY and he'll put it on the line against 20-0 TexMex hitter Miguel Flores.

Lou Dibella promotes the Prince, he told me his take on the meaningfulness of this super feather tango.

“Ryan has good pizzaz, he's progressed and this is big fight,” Dibella told me. “This is kind of a ‘produce or get off the pot' opportunity. The winner, I think, could get a title shot.”

The Massacusetts based boxer does not wow in the power department so his ring generalship will be a key to victory at Turning Stone in Verona, NY. Flores has been in tougher, to this point, so really, this is a coin flip for Prince fans. Can he stand and deliver? If he does, the reward could be sweet and grand.

The PBC on ESPN package kicks off at 9 pm. Hopefully, no softball or flag football game bleeds into the start.

Editor/publisher Michael Woods got addicted to boxing in 1990, when Buster Douglas shocked the world with his demolition of the thought to be impregnable Mike Tyson. The Brooklyn-based journalist Woods has covered the sport since then, for ESPN The Magazine, ESPN.com, ESPN New York, RING, and he was editor of TheSweetScience.com from 2007-2015. Woods is also an accomplished blow by blow and color man, having done work for Top Rank, DiBella Entertainment, EPIX, and for Facebook Fightnight Live since 2017. He now does work for PROBOX TV, the first truly global boxing network.
