Erickson Lubin in Camp (Kevin) Cunningham, waiting on a date and ready to make some noise.
“And soon,” said the trainer Cunningham, the ex St. Louis cop who came to the fore with Cory Spinks and now trains Adrien Broner and Gervonta Davis, as well.
“Lubin’s been sucking up everything I’m teaching him and I’m shocked how far he got with how much he didn’t know! This kid is learning a whole lot and when he comes back to the ring, he’s going to have more than a hammer in the toolbox,” Cunningham said of the 23 year old Florida resident. “The kid is helluva boxer and he got pop. He’s going to make some noise at 154, put in the work with whoever he gotta deal with to get back to Charlo and straighten that situation out.”
Jermell Charlo dropped and stopped Lubin at Barclays Center in October 2017…
“He’s willing to put to the work in to get back to that position! He was 21 and rushed into that fight, he never should have been in that fight in the first place,” Cunningham continued. “Floyd woulda had a loss taking wrong fights early in his career!”
