What: Canelo Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KOs) vs Daniel Jacobs (35-2, 29 KOs)

Who wins and how, in Canelo vs. Jacobs?

Who wins and how, in Canelo vs. Jacobs?

Where: T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada

Channel: DAZN

Time: 9 pm ET

Odds: Alvarez -480, Jacobs +350

Synopsis: It’s the biggest and best fight of 2019. Alvarez, 28, from Guadalajara, Mexico, is the lineal middleweight champion. He also holds the WBA, WBC and Ring Magazine belts. Jacobs, 32, from Brooklyn, New York, picked up the vacant IBF title by defeating Sergiy Derevyanchenko in his last fight. The winner of this huge showdown will be three-fourths of his way to becoming the first undisputed middleweight champion since Jermain Taylor defeated Bernard Hopkins in 2005. What’s even better than all that? The fight should be ultra-competitive. Alvarez seems to get better every fight. But Jacobs is a live dog with the size, speed and boxing IQ that could potentially nab him an upset win.

Other Bouts: The most noteworthy undercard battle is undefeated junior welterweight Vergil Ortiz Jr’s showdown against crafty veteran Mauricio Herrera. Ortiz, 21, from Dallas, Texas, has won all 12 of his fights by knockout. Herrera, 38, from Riverside, California, is a known spoiler and masterclass defensive artist. Something has to give. Others in action include 23-year-old junior lightweight prospect Lamont Roach Jr, 26-year-old former title challenger Joseph Diaz Jr and former 154-pound champion Sadam Ali, 30, in separate bouts.

What: Artur Beterbiev (13-0, 13 KOs) vs Radivoje Kalajdzic (24-1, 17 KOs)

Beterbiev is favored over Hot Rod, but we figure this will be a fan friendly scrap.

Beterbiev is favored over Hot Rod, but we figure this will be a fan friendly scrap.

Where: Stockton Arena in Stockton, California

Channel: ESPN

Time: 10 pm ET

Odds: Beterbiev -5000, Kalajdzic +800

Synopsis: IBF light heavyweight titleholder Beterbiev, 34, begins his new alliance with Top Rank and ESPN in what should be a solid 175-pound battle that many don’t see because it’s going head-to-head with Alvarez-Jacobs. It’s strange for Top Rank to put a relevant fighter like Beterbiev up against as big a fight as that, but at least it gets the Russian-born light heavyweight in a boxing ring again. Beterbiev only fought once each of the last two years. If he hopes to deliver on his huge potential, he’ll need to be busier than that. Kalajdzic’s only loss was to Marcus Browne by split-decision.

Other Bouts: IBF junior bantamweight titleholder Jerwin Ancajas seeks the seventh defense of his world title against Ryuichi Funai in the co-feature. That’s the most notable thing happening on the undercard, where local stalwart Gabriel Flores Jr., 19, will also vie for your viewing pleasure against Eduardo Pereira in a six-round lightweight scrap. ESPN+ will show many more fights from the card starting at 6:30 pm ET.
