Big Punching New Yorker Pablo Valdez discusses ring return and life with Gary Stark and Andre Rozier

Rising New Yorker Pablo Valdez is looking forward to a busy 2019, as he awaits news on his third pro outing.

Valdez is well known to those on the New York fight scene, having been a standout amateur until matters away from boxing kept him away from the ring for almost a decade.

The big punching light welterweight is now aiming to make up for lost time and opened up about his plans for 2019 and beyond.

Valdez said, “Unfortunately I was kept away from boxing for almost a decade, but that hunger never left me. Having the sport taken away from me only gave me the drive to want to be successful in the sport and I am 100% that my time will come.

“I’m 2-0 now with two knockout wins and that is going to be a re-occurring theme going forward. Hard hitting exciting performances that everyone can enjoy. Hopefully, I will have a fight date really soon, and I can start showcasing my skills on a bigger stage sooner rather than later.”

Valdez has been a part of the New York Cops and Kids boxing system, training under legendary New York trainers Gary Stark and Andre Rozier. Valdez discussed his training under the pair and how that has contributed to rekindling his desire for success.

Valdez stated, “Andre Rozier and Gary Stark are two of the best people you will ever meet in boxing. They are great people and great trainers and they bring the best out of you not just in boxing, but as human beings. Their influence on my life has made me a better person and has prepared me for big things in my future.

“Training is always hard whether it be with Andre or Gary. They are fantastic trainers and they push you to the limit but bring the best out of you at the same time. The camp is like a family. We have the likes of Marcus Browne, Sergey Derevyanchenko, Daniel Jacobs in our circle and we all push each other but we are all family too. This is why we are all so hard to beat and things will be the same to beat. I will keep on winning, hopefully, get an opportunity on some big shows and then opportunities will come and I am ready even now to seize them with both hands.”
