HBO Swan Song Delayed? Bivol v Smith Rumored For 11-24

on

So, you were thinking their swan song would be played on Oct. 27, at the MSG Theater?

Maybe not…the grapevine says that HBO will put on another show, maybe two…

On Nov. 24, we hear that light heavyweight Dmitriy Bivol will glove up in NY, putting his 14-0 record and WBA light heavy crown up for grabs.

Facing off with Bivol, word is, will be Long Island bomber Joe Smith, who holds a 24-2 record.

He was last seen getting back on the saddle June 30, when he took out Melvin Russell at Mohegan Sun. Before that, he had his jaw busted fighting Sullivan Barrera in July 2017.

HBO last Friday told the world that after 45 years, they were hopping off the boxing merry go round. They had a double header on Oct. 27, with Alberto Machado-Yuandale Evans and a main event of Danny Jacobs v Sergey Derevyanchenko. Our friend Heather Hardy was holding out hope that HBO would see the light, and make it a triple header, putting her rematch against Shelly Vincent on air.

Guess what? They did!

Beyond that, could HBO go out with a bang, a Dec. 15 Canelo Alvarez v David Lemieux faceoff? That is the rumor pinging around the schoolyard….
