Five Gleason’s Boxer Scrap TONIGHT At Ring Masters Finals in NYC

on

Butterflies are waging war in the stomaches of combatants who will soon be gloving up, testing their character, at Madison Square Garden tonight, Friday April 19.

The Ring Masters Championships unfold this evening, and but of course, the famed and fabled Gleason’s Gym will be well represented.

Justin Travieso, Kathleen Sterling, Jaica Pavilus, Iman James, and Sam Twaiti will be doing their thing, looking to get their hands raised, and repping the DUMBO institution at the same time.

First bell is 6 PM ET, for the record. “Ring Masters as everyone knows or should know, ┬áis the tourney that replaced the NY Golden Gloves, it’s a real, real good organization, it’s run through the amateurs, the US Amateur Boxing Association, Metro Division, it’s probably the largest amateur tournament in the world, outside of the Olympics,” said Bruce Silverglade, the Gleason’s show-runner.

The finals will take place in the Hulu Theater, and tomorrow, Saturday, MSG’s big room plays host to a Top Rank card. So, boxing seems to be running on four cylinders in this region, and, I dare say, more than a bit of credit should go to Silverglade and Gleasons’ prominence.

Silverglade noted that James, a Harvard grad, is having a superb run, so we will keep track of her progress from here on out.
