No Scale Fail, Golovkin and Vanes Make Weight

This was going to be something very different. It was going to be the most high profile being match of the year, unless Floyd Mayweather makes a (not) shocking decision to lace up again.

But…well, you know what happened. Burgers and steaks, them’s the breaks…

So, instead of a GGG versus Canelo Alvarez fight unfolding from Las Vegas, available to you on pay per view, Saturday evening instead will offer GGG versus Vanes Martirosyan, a 25 to 1 underdog, on “regular” HBO, from a ring in California.

Both fighters scaled in on point Friday.

Saturday’s World Championship Boxing® telecast begins at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Here are some stats from Compubox to help you decipher what might go down:

Opening the telecast from the StubHub Center is world champion Cecilia Braekhus, fighting out of a nation that banned boxing until a few years ago,  defending her welterweight crown in a 10-round bout against Kali Reis.

In the main event middleweight champion Golovkin looks to defend his championship for a record-tying 20th consecutive time against Martirosyan in a 12-round bout.

12 rounds or less…I see many Twitwits predicting an early KO for the Kazakh.

What is your prediction?
