GIFT GIVING IDEA FOR BOXING FANS! Gleason’s and Everlast Have You Covered!

Bruce Silverglade of Gleason’s Gym, the most famous boxing gym in the world, and Everlast have come together to offer what I believe is among the best holiday gift ideas I’m aware of.

This year, Everlast has been offering limited edition “capsules,” or specially designed gloves, with unique designs on them. And right now, the venerable apparel and equipment purveyor has 10 oz. gloves with the retro Gleason’s logo fashioned on them, and they look like a million bucks.

The mitts have a retro look and feel, with the distressed leather harkening back to the golden age of the sport.

Silverglade came on the “Talkbox” podcast to tell us about the gloves, which can be seen here.

“It’s a terrific glove,” said the man who has run the gym for 37 years. “The most important thing is the quality of the glove. And the glove is A one! It’s a ten ounce fight glove, it’s got top-notch leather. It’s really beautiful, has the old brown, is embroidered with the old Everlast logos as well as the old Gleason’s logo, it’s got the Brooklyn Bridge on there. It’s a terrific glove, it’s gonna be something that can be used for training and it’s a terrific gift for vintage purposes. There are so many people that come in to Gleason’s that are guests from around the world, and I think it’s an ideal souvenir for them. The practicality is it can be used, it’s a terrific glove! I’m real happy…I’ve been with Everlast for over 40 years, I just can’t say enough about them, it’s a great company, and we’re going to keep going forward.”

The gym bossman also told us of other gift ideas…

In February, there is a Masters Clinic which would be a great stocking stuffer for an older fighter, and of course, if you REALLY LOVE someone, send them to the Gleason’s Fantasy Camp, in August. Said Silverglade: “The fantasy camp is something people come to from around the world!”

Also, on Dec. 10, you can hit the last Gleason’s club show of the year. Here is tix info.

Additionally, always feel free to pop in to the gym, in DUMBO, because it is one of the better tourist destinations for out of towners and locals alike.
