Different guys do different things to pass the time as game time approaches. In this era, yep, no surprise, getting onto social media is a prime fixture for many hitters as the time ticks down to their scrap.
Adam Kownacki tooled around on Twitter some, this afternoon, and one of his posts had me reaching out, messaging him. I confess, I got curious about just what the heck he was talking about here:
What’s that all about, I asked AK, who was seven hours away from gloving up, against Chris Arreola. That heavyweight tango will run on free FOX, for the record, and AK, 19-0, is the favorite to down the ultra vet from Cali (38-5-1).
“Bitcoins,” Kownacki, a Long Island resident who was born in Poland and grew up Brooklyn. And SATS?
“So Satoshi is a piece of a bitcoin. It’s like dollars and cents. 1 bitcoin is 100 million satoshi.”
And you believe in the Satoshi mission? And that it’s value will heighten?
“Lol, I like tech. Think it’s a cool experiment, we will see,” the fighter said.
Any nerves yet big man?
“Of course. Just trying keep my mind off it. Be relaxed till about 7. Then it’s game time. Now just getting water and food in me,” he said, a bit after 4 PM ET. Spaghetti bolognese, for the record….Was it home-made, or from a lucky joint?
“Joint across the street, been coming here for every fight,” he said.
I pondered the vibe, as, alas, I won’t be onsite, I’m in Delaware, with family, doing a beach vacation. I think the building will have a good buzz inside, and yes, with 2,000 plus Poles in there, there for the duration, this could be a real decent card to hit…I do wish I was there but you gotta get outta Dodge now and again…
And with that, it was time for him to disengage, and get into visualization mode. His adrenaline will be allowed to surge a bit more, incrementally, until it is go time. Thoughts of crypto-currency and pasta carb loading will be banished, and more primal and urgent matters will be trafficked in….
