With Shields Added To DAZN Card, Is Claressa Jetting From Showtime?

People like to make much ado about matters large and small…

And sometimes there’s merit there, and other times no…

A-side journo Lance Pugmire Tweeted out that Showtime is allowing Claressa Shields to fight on DAZN, to do an optional title defense, and that the postponed Shields vs Christina Hammer bout will to shown next year on Showtime.

Pretty straight-forward…

But I read a comment beneath the Tweet, and someone noted that they think this development means that Shields won’t be returning from her DAZN foray back into the Sho tent.

So, I reached out to Shields’ promoter, Dmitriy Salita. What about it, Salita, could Shields be done at Showtime, which has been building her up as an attraction of late?

“Shields versus Hammer is going to happen on Showtime,” the promoter declared.

So, there you have it….

For the record, ESPN’s Dan Rafael reported that on Nov. 17, a DAZN card will feature “Big Baby” Miller, against TBA. And also Shields will be on the slate, versus Hannah Rankin.

Hey, I get it. With all the changes in the sport, the platforms closing and adding talent, it makes sense that people assume more shoes could drop. And, guess what? They will drop. But not apparently this time, this shoe.
